UL and TIA Announce Agreement on Collaboration for Safety Standards
ANSI member and audited designator Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, have entered an agreement to further cooperation for the advancement of safety standards.
The two organizations have agreed to share information and knowledge about their standards activities, and to work together to identify and analyze areas where safety standards overlap, allowing them to explore possible opportunities for collaboration. UL and TIA will also support co-publication efforts and participation by stakeholders in each other's standards development activities.
"Underwriters Laboratories is pleased to enter into this agreement with TIA and we look forward to sharing information between our organizations to advance the development of effective safety standards," said Phil Piqueira, vice president, standards at UL. "MOUs with TIA and other standards development organizations help expand our knowledge base and drive utilization of best practices in ways that are mutually beneficialwhich helps our organization achieve its mission of working for a safer world."

IAPMO Announces Initiative to Improve Water and Sanitation Services in Healthcare Facilities
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), an ANSI member and audited designator, has committed to collaborating with plumbing industry and NGO partners to advance effective water and sanitation services in healthcare facilities serving impoverished populations around the world.
The initiative, titled "Resolving a Fundamental Challenge to Global Health: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Healthcare Facilities," will bring together more than 70 NGOs, governments, financial institutes, corporations, universities, and healthcare delivery organizations to commit funds, services, and expertise. Through advocacy, training and technical guidance, project monitoring, and donation of products, among other contributions, the effort seeks to ensure that no person has to receive treatment in a hospital or health clinic that lacks water, soap, or toilets.

ASME Article Series Highlights Five Strategic Technology Focus Areas
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published a series of five news articles on the organization's strategic technology focus areas: robotics, bioengineering, clean energy, manufacturing, and pressure technology.
The articles offer insight into how the organization selected these five technologies as those that may have a potential impact on future ASME products, programs, and technical content. ASME volunteers and staff began the process of identifying these technologies several years ago by gathering market intelligence and input from subject matter experts within and outside of the Society. The final five strategic technologies were approved by the organization's Board of Governors.
Each of the articles introduces a technology and outlines ASME's activities and products related to that subject matter. Readers can also access links to related ASME publications on each topic, recorded webinars available on demand, and learning and development courses, among other resources.

Energistics Announces Three Webinars on Trusted Data
Energistics, an ANSI member, is running a three-part webinar series highlighting different issues surrounding trusted data. The presentations are hosted by Jay Hollingsworth, CTO of Energistics.
The first webinar centers on data trustworthiness for geoscientists, engineers, and drillers as the digital ecosystem supporting oil and gas exploration and production rapidly expands and evolves. This webinar took place in May 2019; a recorded version is available on demand.
The second webinar will be held on June 27 at 9 a.m. CT. Listeners will learn about the facets of trustworthiness that are mathematically related to data uncertainty, as well as paths to quantification of those values. The webinar will also discuss how to represent trustworthiness as metadata while data makes its way through workflow, and the data management aspects of trustworthiness.
