The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has awarded Richard Campbell the 2025 ASME B31 Forever Medal for Excellence in Piping.
The Medal for Excellence in Piping is a Committee Award established in 2010 that honors distinguished contributions in the field of pressure piping, including but not limited to leadership, technical, research and development, and publication efforts that have had a significant impact on the content, development, promulgation, and expansion of ASME B31 piping standards.
Campbell is an ASME Fellow, AWS Fellow, and Bechtel Fellow Emeritus. He has more than 45 years of welding and metallurgical engineering experience. He holds a bachelor of science degree in welding, a mechanical engineering from LeTourneau University, and a doctorate in materials engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
ASTM International has given its Award of Merit, its top annual award, to Raj Shah for his contributions to its petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants committee (D02).
The award includes the accompanying title of fellow, and is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Shah was recognized for his “wide-ranging support of technical experts overseeing petroleum standards and test methods, his editing of two editions of ASTM's Fuel and Lubricants handbook, as well as over 25 years of promoting implementation of ASTM’s standards.”
Shah previously received the organization’s Award of Appreciation (2004), the Award of Excellence (2011, 2012, 2014), and the Eagle Award (2014). Shah, who focuses on chemical engineering, has supported various D02 standards on rust, oxidation, and corrosion. He also served as the vice chair for the grease subcommittee for over a decade.
He is the director at Koehler Instrument Company, NY and volunteers as an adjunct professor for the State University of New York, Stony Brook. He received his doctoral degree in chemical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and serves on several non-profit advisory boards.
