People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), an accredited standards developer and organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Kris Kiser as OPEI's next president and CEO, succeeding retiring president and CEO Bill Harley. Mr. Kiser has been with OPEI for four years, formerly serving as executive vice president and COO.

A committed supporter of animal rescue and rehabilitation, Mr. Kiser spearheaded the development of the TurfMutt educational curriculum with Discovery Communications and OPEI's Education and Research Foundation. The TurfMutt curriculum is aimed at promoting environmental stewardship of lawns, landscapes, parks, and green spaces.

Mr. Kiser previously served as an aide to international affairs expert and former Congressman Lee H. Hamilton. A fuels expert, he served as the chief advocate for the outdoor power equipment industry before Congress and the Administration on a range of issues related to fuels, emissions, manufacturing, environment, and water. Prior to joining OPEI, he served as vice president, state and international affairs, for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, and previously as vice president, governmental affairs, for the American Forest & Paper Association. He holds a juris doctorate from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.

OPEI is an international trade association representing 80 manufacturers worldwide in the engine, utility vehicle and landscape, lawn, garden, and forestry equipment industries. The association's mission is to bring awareness to the importance of environmental stewardship, an appreciation of the outdoors and how to grow, restore, and maintain our everyday green spaces in a responsible way.


ANSI company member Qualcomm Incorporated has appointed Anastassia Lauterbach, Ph.D., as senior vice president of global business operations - Europe. Dr. Lauterbach will oversee the company's interests across the European continent, as well as drive growing operations in Eastern Europe.

Dr. Lauterbach joins Qualcomm from Deutsche Telekom in Bonn, Germany, where she most recently served as senior vice president of business development and investments and as member of Deutsche Telekom's Executive Technology and Innovations Board. Her previous positions there include acting chief products and innovation officer, and executive vice president of group strategy at T-Mobile International (a Deutsche Telekon brand). She previously spent 10 years in various operational and strategic roles at Daimler, McKinsey, and Munich Reinsurance Company. Dr. Lauterbach holds a Ph.D. from Bonn University.
