Randal (Randy) A. Lemke, Ph.D., executive director and CEO of
InfoComm International, has announced his planned retirement at the end of 2012. An accredited standards developer and member of the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI), InfoComm International is a trade association representing the professional audiovisual and information communications industries across more than 80 countries. The InfoComm International board of directors will launch an extensive search for Dr. Lemke's successor in the coming months, with candidate requirements to be announced in the second quarter and the selection anticipated by the fourth quarter of 2012. Tony Warner, InfoComm International board president-elect, said, "Our search will focus on a visionary leader who will maintain the strength and culture of the association, while furthering our international presence and continuing to raise the profile of our industry." Dr. Lemke joined InfoComm International in 1996 as vice president of education, overseeing the development and delivery of the association's seminars, workshops, advanced schools, international education, and certification programs. In 1997 he pioneered InfoComm Academy Online, an Internet-based training system for the AV industry, and in 2000 he ascended to the position of executive director and CEO. Prior to his work at InfoComm, Lemke was a professor at the University of Virginia and Gallaudet University and served as a college administrator at Northern Virginia Community College. Dr. Lemke holds board positions with Integrated Systems Events, LLC, and InfoComm Asia PTE, Ltd. He is the founding and current chairman of the STEP(RM) Foundation, a collaboration of associations working to bring sustainability to the process of planning, designing, integrating, and operating technology systems and reduce long-term environmental impact from technology deployment. He has also served as chief executive of ICIF, InfoComm's charitable foundation. He holds advanced degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska.
