ASHRAE Funds Undergraduate HVAC&R Projects Worldwide As part of the ASHRAE Undergraduate Senior Project Grant program, ANSI member
ASHRAE has awarded grants totaling $100,000 to 22 to colleges and universities around the world. The grants are intended to promote the study and teaching of HVAC&R and encourage senior undergraduate students to pursue related careers. This year's award funds were used to design and construct projects such as an HVAC test "shack" to study energy efficiency, a study of the impact of air filters on energy consumption, and an air flow visualization system using infrared thermography. ASHRAE will begin accepting applications for the 2013-14 program in August 2012, with a December 2012 deadline. For more information, visit

HL7 Pilot Program Offers Access to Domain Models and Functional Profiles ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer
Health Level Seven (HL7) has launched a one-year pilot program offering no-cost licensing of its domain models and functional profiles. Domain analysis is the first step in creating HL7 standards for a specific care or research environment. The process produces documentation describing the stakeholders, activities, interactions, and information for a particular domain, and serves as the source of requirements used in the design of HL7 standards. Functional profiles for the HL7 Electronic Health Record System Functional Model (EHR-S FM) are also available as part of the pilot program. The domain models and functional profiles can be accessed via HL7's
online store. Users must complete a click-through license registration process to participate.
