U.S. Stakeholders Encouraged to Participate in 2014 Future Networked Car Symposium

A draft agenda has been released for the Future Networked Car 2014 symposium, scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, on March 5-6, 2014, in association with the Geneva International Motor Show. The event, which is being organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is expected to bring together leaders and subject area experts from the international automotive industry, standards developing organizations (SDOs), and international nonprofit and governmental bodies, as well as other stakeholders focused on the creation of the next generation of motor vehicles.

The 2014 symposium will include discussions on automated driving, global road safety, in-vehicle automated emergency call systems, synergies between cars and mobile devices, potential collaborations between the information and communications technology (ICT) and automotive sectors, and interconnections between roadside infrastructure and the Internet of Things (IoT), among other related topics. Organizations taking part in the event include American National Standards Institute (ANSI) members the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and SAE International, along with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Anheuser-Busch InBev, and the World Health Organization (WHO), among many others.

This symposium, which will be conducted entirely in English, is being held at the Geneva PALEXPO convention center and is open to all members of the public. There is no fee to participate; however, advance registration is required for all participants. U.S. stakeholders are encouraged to take part in this event. Following the symposium, an open meeting of the Collaboration on ITS Communications Standards, which carried out work associated with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) communication standards, will be held at ITU headquarters in Geneva on March 7, 2014.
