AIIM Publishes New Study on Corporate Information Governance
ANSI member and accredited standards developer the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) recently released a new study examining corporate information management and security efforts, with a particular focus on the automation of information management in the corporate realm. This document, Automating Information Governance - assuring compliance, was based on a survey of more than 500 business leaders, and found widespread and growing concern in the corporate world about the risks associated with data breaches and other information security breakdowns.
The report found that only 10% of surveyed organizations had an effective internal information governance policy and more than 80% of respondents believed that they were storing more information than they were required to. In addition, information gathered by the report's authors suggested that automation of corporate information was on the rise: only 14% of respondents currently used automation, while a further 35% reported immediate plans to automate their information governance, with many citing improved searchability and higher productivity as leading factors in their decision.
