Prior to assuming his current role as the head of the BRT, an organization representing the CEOs of leading U.S. corporations employing more than 16 million workers, Mr. Engler served as president and CEO of prominent manufacturing trade group and ANSI member the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). His time in government included three terms as governor of Michigan and a 20-year tenure in the Michigan State House of Representatives and State Senate, where he served as the Michigan State Senate majority leader for seven years.
The Annual Business Meeting will open with a hot breakfast followed by Mr. Engler's keynote address. The meeting will also include presentations from S. Joe Bhatia, ANSI president and CEO, and Mary Saunders of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the interim chair of ANSI's Board of Directors, on ANSI's recent accomplishments and continuing priorities. In his keynote address, Mr. Engler will discuss the important role workforce development plays in bolstering the U.S. economy and the ways in which quality workforce credentials can facilitate matches between job seekers and companies in need of employees. Both Mr. Engler's keynote address and the remarks from Mr. Bhatia and Ms. Saunders will be followed by question and answer sessions.
Attendance at the Annual Business Meeting is free for ANSI members and costs $95 for non-members. All attendees must register by Friday, October 10; online registration is available. To learn more about the Annual Business Meeting and WSW 2014, visit www.ansi.org/wsweek.
