The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) successfully concluded its first year implementing the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)-sponsored initiative the U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCCP). During the inaugural year of this three-year program, ANSI organized six of the total required twenty workshops. Increased cooperation with Chinese technical committees and new or expanded U.S.-China commercial relationships are two key outcomes reported by ANSI members participating in the program, including the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA), NACE International, ASTM International, and the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). Building upon the success of the first year, ANSI kicked off the second year of the U.S.-China SCCP with its seventh workshop, the "U.S.-China Workshop on Digital Energy," held June 23, 2014, in Beijing. Organized in cooperation with the U.S. Commercial Service and ITI, the workshop provided participants with the opportunity to discuss: information and communication technology (ICT) in low-carbon development; regional digital energy management platforms; industrial energy saving integrated solutions; the Internet of Things (IOT) and energy efficiency; double integration and energy conservation; and energy management center construction. The exchange paved the way for the transfer of U.S.-developed ICT to China and garnered the support of high-level officials within both the U.S. and Chinese governments.
