The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has announced Thomas Palkon as its new senior vice president of water systems.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Palkon worked for the Water Quality Association (WQA), most recently as vice president and chief operations officer. He has expertise in many areas within the water treatment industry, including strategic development and implementation, program/process design and development, and business operations. As VP and COO, he oversaw thousands of certified products and service to more than 400 companies.
Mr. Palkon was recently named one of the 50 most influential people in the water industry by Water Conditioning & Purification magazine. He holds a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

UL has appointed Carlos Correia as its president for global supply chain and sustainability business. In this position, Mr. Correia will lead the organization's plans to grow its information and insights, environment, and furniture divisions.
Mr. Correia has been with UL for 12 years, holding leadership positions in the global high-tech business out of Japan, and the global consumer products and consumer and industrial businesses out of Europe and Latin America. He has also held leadership positions for the European Organization for Testing and Certification and Silicon Telecom Consultants.
Mr. Correia brings both business and technical expertise to the position, with an MBA from the United Business Institute (UBI) in Brussels and an engineering degree in maritime machinery from the Nautical School Infante D. Henrique (ENIDH) in Lisbon, Portugal.
