People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.
CSA Group announced that its president and CEO, Ash Sahi, has decided to retire in 2015. Mr. Sahi will work in collaboration with the organization's Board of Directors to find his successor, with consideration of both internal and external candidates.
Mr. Ash K. Sahi has headed CSA Group since October 2009. He previously served as CEO of Enhance Packaging Technologies Inc. and as president of Hartmann North America, Inc. He served he held several executive positions with E.I. DuPont Canada Company from 1978 to 2004, including as president and CEO of Liqui-Box Canada, Inc., an E.I. DuPont subsidiary. A member of the Sustainability Development Academy and the Chemical Institute of Canada, Mr. Sahi holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and a bachelor's in chemical engineering from McGill University in Montreal.
"I feel privileged to have led CSA Group and feel confident that the organization is well positioned for continued growth and success," said Mr. Sahi. "I look forward to working with Roland [Hosein, chair of the Board of Directors] and the Board on a smooth transition and ensuring CSA Group remains in strong hands."
CSA Group is a global standards development and testing and certification organization that aims to advance safety, sustainability, and social good. CSA Group is a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) has announced the retirement of William Hanley, IES executive vice president, after 26 years with the organization. Mr. Hanley retired on December 31, 2015.
Mr. Hanley began working with IES in 1988 as chief of staff, and is the longest serving head-of-staff since the organization's founding in 1905. He has had a powerful impact on the organization, bringing the organization to solid financial footing in difficult times and leading tremendous growth during his career. He oversaw the publication of three editions of the IES Lighting Handbook and led the organization in the launch of LIGHTFAIR International.
IES is an ANSI member and accredited standards developer whose mission is to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. The society publishes nearly 100 varied technical publications and works cooperatively with related organizations on a variety of programs and in the production of jointly published documents and standards.
