SES to Host Webinar on Conformity Assessment
A webinar hosted by SES - The Society for Standards Professionals will focus on Conformity Assessment - Threat or Menace. It will be led by Gary Schremmp, director of global regulations and safety investigations for Dell, and will take place March 18 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. EDT.
These webinars are offered free of charge to all current SES members and ANSI full member technical contacts; participation costs $50 for non-members. Additional information is available on the SES website.
In addition to the special boxes, the campaign offers customers the potential to win free pizza - but only if their alarms are working properly. Customers who order pizza from participating Domino's locations may be surprised to have their pizza delivered by a fire truck. Firefighters will test the fire alarms in the home, and if all are working properly, the pizza is free. Any faulty alarms will be given new batteries or replaced with working alarms. The campaign is running throughout the month of March.

OPEI Offers Tips for Lawn Mower Safety as Spring Approaches
The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published a list of safety tips for the use of lawn mowers, particularly when there are children nearby or in the home.
Safety tips include: alerting other people that you are going to mow so that they can supervise children and guide pets away from the area; avoiding going in reverse and approaching blind corners with extreme caution; and storing and locking a mower where children cannot access it. The institute also advises that children never be given rides on mowers, even if the blades are turned off, because it may lead them to approach the mower at other times when it is unsafe.
To read all lawn mower safety tips, see OPEI's news item.
