The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) would like to inform its membership that Dan Ratner, ANSI director of membership development and industry outreach, will be leaving his position to join the Association of Governing Boards as vice president for membership. Mr. Ratner was with ANSI for three years. A search is now underway to find a candidate to fill this position; for more information, email [email protected].

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), an ANSI member and audited designator, has announced the promotion of Megan Lehtonen to senior vice president of international business development.

Ms. Lehtonen has been with IAPMO since 2010, managing operations at the IAPMO Group's offices in India and Australia, and contributing greatly to the organization's work in Indonesia. She has been instrumental to the growth of IAPMO's interests in these markets, including the release of the Uniform Illustrated Plumbing Code - India, the doubling of IAPMO Oceana's GasMark certification business in Australia and New Zealand, and the release of the first Indonesian National Standard for plumbing systems.

Prior to joining IAPMO, Ms. Lehtonen was president of Onni, Inc. She has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for her contributions to environmental education, and by Contractor magazine as one of the most influential women in the mechanical contracting industry.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has appointed Patrick Hope as the executive director of its Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA).

"We are pleased to welcome Patrick to MITA," said NEMA president and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff. "His passion for public health and in-depth understanding of healthcare policy will be tremendous assets to MITA's member companies, as well as the broader NEMA community."

Prior to joining MITA, Mr. Hope was the senior director of legislative policy for the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He is a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the state's 47th district (Arlington County), and serves on the Health and Welfare Institutions Committee. He has also worked as the legislative counsel and senior manager of legislative affairs for the American College of Physicians.

MITA, a division of NEMA, is an industry organization for medical imaging equipment manufacturers, innovators, and product developers.

The Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), an ANSI member, has announced that Eamon Geary is its new manager of construction sustainability. In this role, he will assess environmental opportunities for steel in the marketplace, represent the steel industry in sustainability codes and standards development arenas, and provide information and support regarding construction sustainability to SMDI programs.

Prior to joining SMDI, Mr. Geary worked for Michal Baker International as its sustainability director. He oversaw sustainable design and construction for the company, and was responsible for ensuring that projects met requirements for LEED certification. He has also worked for the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) USA and the Green Building Alliance.

"Eamon brings valuable experience in sustainable design and construction projects from his previous employment opportunities and is a LEED-accredited professional," said Mark Thimons, P.E., LEED AP - BD C, vice president of sustainability for the Steel Market Development Institute. "His real-world experience adds another dimension to our current scientific focus on life-cycle assessment and strengthens our industry's ability to develop and implement sustainable construction products and practices."
