Free Orientation Video: What's In Store for World Standards Week 2015?

8/19/2015

10-Minute Video Features Event Highlights and a Brief Intro to ANSI and Its Activities

With the countdown to World Standards Week 2015 (WSW) officially underway, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has created an informational video detailing what to expect during the standardization event of the year, which runs from September 28 to October 2. The presentation is geared toward newcomers to World Standards Week, but is also of interest to all those considering attending the week's various meeting and celebrations.

As the video highlights, WSW is designed to foster open exchange among a wide range of standard setting and conformity assessment associations, in addition to representatives of government, industry, and consumer interests in nearly every sector and product line. The event is intended to help various stakeholders collectively identify and strategize on common priorities and to allow all of those affected by standards and compliance measures to gain insight into current standardization issues, and learn how to get more engaged in the process.

This year's World Standards Week will be held September 28-October 2 at the FHI 360 Conference Center, in addition to other downtown Washington DC venues.

All location and registration information is posted on www.ansi.org/wsweek, including details on the full line-up of meetings and special events.

Spotlight on a Few WSW Events

One unique and free WSW event this year is the ANSI Conference on Standards and the Service Economy, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Leaders from international standards bodies and service providers will share their thoughts on how domestic and international standardization can meet the evolving needs of the growing service sector. Panelists will include representatives of Disney, Citi, Oracle, the LA Department of Water and Power, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the national and regional standards bodies for the UK, Germany, Singapore, and Europe. Interactive Q&A sessions will accommodate audience engagement, as will a networking reception which will follow the discussions, from 5 to 6 p.m.

The ANSI Committee on Education will also hold a complimentary Standards Simulation training workshop on September 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. designed to help students and emerging professionals get a better understanding of how standards are developed through a hands-on workshop. The event is also a great opportunity to introduce new staff or emerging professionals to the world of standards and conformance.

More details, including individual event agendas, fees, and sponsorship opportunities for interested organizations can be found on the WSW page.

Pre-register at www.ansi.org/wsweek by September 18.
