Meeting Agendas Available for World Standards Week 2015

Sessions Part of World Standards Week 2015 (WSW), September 28-October 2, in Washington DC

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released agendas for its upcoming member forum and policy committee meetings to be held as part of World Standards Week 2015 (WSW), September 28-October 2, in Washington DC. WSW is an annual event where members of the standards and conformity assessment community come together in the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. Online registration is available here.

Company Member Forum (CMF)

The ANSI Company Member Forum will take place Monday, September 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at King and Spalding LLP. The meeting, free to ANSI members only, will focus on emerging, strategic standardization issues related to company members, with sessions on smart cities, accelerating industry standards, cybersecurity, and other emerging issues. Participation via teleconference is available for this meeting.

Organizational Member Forum (OMF)

ANSI's Organizational Member Forum will take place Wednesday, September 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the FHI 360 Conference Center. At the request of ANSI's organizational members, this meeting will include a detailed report on consumer engagement, including the activities of ANSI's Consumer Interest Forum and the ISO Consumer Policy Committee (COPOLCO). Organizational members will also hear an update on the National Fire Protection Association's volunteer program.

Consumer Interest Forum (CIF)

ANSI's Consumer Interest Forum will take place Thursday, October 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at King & Spalding LLP. Kathleen Thuner, ANSI CIF chair, will open the meeting, which will feature an executive dialogue on consumer interests in standardization. Speakers will include U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Commissioner Robert Adler, among others.

Joint Meeting: CAPC-NPC

A joint meeting of the ANSI Conformity Assessment Policy Committee (CAPC) and National Policy Committee (NPC) will take place Thursday, October 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at King & Spalding LLP and will feature updates from the ANSI Committee on Education (CoE) and Executive Standards Council (ExSC), in addition to featured speakers.

ANSI International Policy Committee (IPC)

ANSI's International Policy Committee meeting will take place Friday, October 2, at King & Spalding LLP from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a teleconferencing option. IPC chair Laura Hitchcock of the Boeing Company will open the meeting, and ANSI leadership and staff will provide an update on China's standardization reform and ANSI's activities in China. Also to be discussed are recent standards -related developments in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP).

Panel discussions will focus on "Transatlantic Cooperation in Standards and Developments Impacting TTIP" with speakers from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and General Electric Co, as well as "Interagency Report on International Cybersecurity Standardization," a discussion of efforts surrounding a new report that lays out recommendations for how the federal government may achieve strategic objectives related to international standards for cybersecurity. Networking discussions will follow.

The agenda for the Joint Meeting: ANSI Government Member Forum (GMF) / Interagency Committee on Standards Policy (ICSP) is forthcoming. That meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 30, at the FHI 360 Conference Center.
