Four other foreign experts were also appointed as foreign advisers on the CSEC, including John Gordon Walter, CEO, Standards Council of Canada (SCC); Olivier Peyrat, CEO, Association Francaise de Normalization (AFNOR GROUP); Scott Steedman, director of standards, British Standards Institute (BSI), and Torsten Bahke, former chairman and currently senior adviser to the German Institute of Standards (DIN) Executive Board.
Dr. Tian Shihong, administrator of the Standardization Administration of China (SAC), gave the opening remarks at the certificate ceremony and introduced the participating Chinese and foreign delegates. Wu Hequan, chairman of CSEC, provided an overview of the Committee and welcomed the foreign advisers who gave individual speeches. In conclusion of the event, Minister Zhi Shuping, minister of China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), presented each advisor with a certificate of appointment.
CSEC is an expert advisory organization that advises SAC on national standards strategy, policy, major reform, and innovative measures for standardization, key projects in science and technology, and publication and implementation of standards. The organization was jointly established by AQSIQ and SAC in 2006.
