People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), a member and audited designator of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has promoted Donna Estrada to senior vice president of IAPMO R &T Lab Services and Administration.
Ms. Estrada has played an integral role in expanding IAPMO's global prominence, widening the service offerings of the business unit to include water filtration, swimming pools, and solar thermal segments. Prior to joining IAMPO, she was a vice president at another laboratory.
"It is always a great pleasure to work collaboratively with Donna, as she has had rapid professional growth and her loyalty to the mission of The IAPMO Group is unsurpassed," IAPMO CEO GP Russ Chaney said. "Donna has exceeded my expectations since joining The IAPMO Group and she continues to excel in her efforts to promote IAPMO's laboratory programs throughout the world. I certainly look forward to working with Donna for years to come. She is a true and dedicated professional."
AdvaMed, an ANSI member and accredited stands developer, has announced two additions to the organization.
Greg Crist has joined AdvaMed as executive vice president for public affairs. In this role, Mr. Crist will oversee the organization's communications work and lead their advocacy efforts. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Crist was senior vice president of the American Health Care Association, a 14,000 -member organization. There, he led all internal and external communications.
"The medical technology industry has a great story to tell about the value devices and diagnostics can bring to patients and health care systems, and Greg is an ideal choice to help deliver those messages," said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed. "Greg brings an in-depth knowledge of the U.S. health care system, and he understands the importance of providing innovative solutions to the challenges we face in delivering quality care to patients."
Brian O'Connor also joined AdvaMed, assuming the role of vice president of alliance development. He will lead work in forming alliances with patient groups, medical and professional societies, and other advocacy organizations and stakeholders. He will also partner with colleagues in AdvaMed to lead its State Medical Technology Alliance. Previously, he was the managing director of public affairs for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), leading their state and federal grassroots advocacy activity.
"Brian's experience in stakeholder relationship building and leading issue advocacy with external groups will serve AdvaMed's members well," said JC Scott, AdvaMed chief advocacy officer and head of external affairs. "He is a great addition to the AdvaMed team."
The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), an ANSI member and standards developer, will welcome Jennifer Padberg on March 27, as its senior vice president of standards policy and programs. Ms. Padberg currently serves as vice president of standards and practice guidelines for the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).
"Jen's experience in leading the development of practice guidelines at IDSA has clear and compelling parallels to the work of standards development at AAMI," AAMI president and CEO Robert Jensen said. "She also has an impressive understanding of healthcare issues in general, a mind for strategic thinking, and a record of collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders in a leadership capacity."
"AAMI is the leading organization in setting the standards for the healthcare technology community, and that work is only going to become more important and valued as modern medicine grows more complex and interconnected," Ms. Padberg said. "I look forward to building on AAMI's record of enviable success and taking its Standards Department to the next level."
