People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.
The Water Quality Association (WQA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Pauli Undesser as its new executive director.
Ms. Undesser joined the association in 2007, serving as director of regulatory and technical affairs and Water Quality Research Foundation coordinator. Most recently, she was WQA's deputy executive director, a role she assumed in May 2014. Under the leadership of Ms. Undesser, WQA coordinated a successful coalition to re-write and simplify industry product certification laws in California, and developed an internal toxicology program.
Ms. Undesser has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in biochemistry from Northern Illinois University. She recently received the Association Forum of Chicago's Forty Under 40 award, honoring association and non-profit professionals for their accomplishments and leadership skills.
The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), an ANSI member, has announced that Tim Osborne is its new senior director of training services. In this newly created position, Mr. Osborne will provide an enhanced learning experience for A2LA course attendees, allowing them to better retain information in the courses and improve their productivity and business efficiency. He will also expand the organization's eLearning platform and other service offerings related to their curriculum.
Prior to joining A2LA, Mr. Osborne was the director of quality of Trescal, Inc., where he led training programs and managed coursers on management systems, system processes, and measurement and data analysis tools. He was A2LA's Criteria Council chair and Measurement Advisory Committee chair, and vice president of standards and practices for NCSLI. Mr. Osborne also contributed to the development of the ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 handbook and several recommended practices.
Mr. Osborne has a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering with a minor in materials engineering and chemistry. He served for six years in the U.S. Navy's nuclear power program on submarines, where he oversaw the quality program and training departments on quality processes and engineering systems.
