ANSI Supports Upcoming U.S. Commercial Service Event on Global Markets and Trade

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a supporting organization of the International Trade Administration's U.S. Commercial Service event, entitled "Discover Global Markets: U.S. Manufacturers to Europe and Beyond," to take place in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 18-20, 2017.

The event will reveal how U.S. companies, especially small businesses, can sell more in international markets and is set to feature U.S. trade experts from embassies and consulates representing over 16 European markets.

There will be opportunities to:

Export Impact on the Economy

Recent analysis from the International Trade Administration (ITA) reveals that:

  • In 2015, 11.5 million U.S. jobs were supported by U.S. exports.

  • Workers with export-extensive manufacturing industries earn, on average, 15 to 20 percent more than their counterparts in other manufacturing industries.

  • 98 percent of U.S. exporters are small and medium-sized enterprises with less than 500 employees

  • Schedule one-on-one meetings with procurement contacts at manufacturing OEMs like Airbus, Rockwell Automation and others

  • Hear how NASA is commercializing technology with relevant attendee sectors

  • Meet with U.S. government trade experts from 16 European markets, including Mexico and Canada, to develop strategies for finding new partners in target markets, and

  • Network with exporters and export service providers with industry.

Jim McCabe, senior director of standards facilitation at ANSI, will moderate the Export Tradecraft panel on September 19, along with speakers Angus Low, manager, global product standards & regulations, Rockwell Automation, and Eileen Hill, team leader for standards, office of standards and investment policy, U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration.

Other event tracks will highlight aerospace, advanced manufacturing and automotive industries, as well as sessions for all exporters.
