ANSI Supports World Accreditation Day 2017

6/08/2017

Initiative Recognizes Accreditation's Role in Construction and the Built Environment

In recognition of World Accreditation Day 2017, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released a set of web-based resources that illustrate the numerous ways accreditation and standards support construction and the built environment. Held each year on June 9 and jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), World Accreditation Day is an opportunity for stakeholders to honor and communicate the important role accreditation plays in the global standards and conformance community.

ANSI's new webpage features data, testimonials, video and graphics that support the World Accreditation Day 2017 theme: "Accreditation: Delivering confidence in construction and the built environment." Support for construction and related industries is increasingly significant because by 2030, worldwide construction output is projected to grow to $15.5 trillionan increase of 85 percent. ANSI accredits standards developers and conformity assessment bodies that provide voluntary, market-based tools advancing confidence and trust throughout these sectors, and directly supports the safety of homes, secure businesses, and reliable platforms for transit, commerce, and education.

And beyond the scope of construction, ANSI offers a broad portfolio of third-party accreditation services based on international standards, including programs for product certification bodies, personnel certification bodies, education and training certificate-issuing bodies, greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies, management systems certification bodies, calibration and testing laboratories, inspection bodies, reference material producers, proficiency test providers, forensic testing laboratories and inspection agencies, and medical laboratories and medical examiners. ANSI is also the sole accreditor of standards developers that sponsor American National Standards and Technical Advisory Groups that formulate U.S. positions in relation to ISO activities.
