The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites members to complete the 2017 ISO Directives Updates Course, now available online. The online course is required to comply with the ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) requirement for training on changes to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Directives, the basic procedures to be followed in the development of International Standards and other publications. Training should be completed by March 1, 2018.
The course will provide an overview of changes to the new version of the ISO/IEC Directives Part 1 and ISO Supplement, which was released in May 2017. The new version reflects a number of changes to how ISO committees conduct their work.
The ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) has required all U.S. persons serving as Secretaries of ISO Technical Committees (TCs), Subcommittees (SCs) and Project Committees (PCs), as well as Administrators of U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) to ISO committees to have appropriate training to serve in these respective roles. This requirement includes training on any changes to the ISO Directives that may be introduced each year.
The updates course is also recommended for U.S. individuals serving as chairs and convenors of ISO committees and working groups, as well as chairs of U.S. TAGs. The course is also relevant for those who serve as members of U.S. TAGs or as delegates and experts to ISO committee and working group meetings.
As the U.S. member body to ISO, ANSI provides the 2017 ISO Updates Course, which is available online .
All required participants must submit the Course Completion Form upon finishing the course in order to comply with the ExSC requirement for training.
