The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has circulated a proposal for a new field of activity on "Indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services - Land transport of parcels with intermediate transfer." As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites all relevant and interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by the end of the business day on October, 27, 2017.
According to the document proposal, submitted by JISC, the ISO member from Japan, the standard specifies requirements for the provision and operation of indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services for refrigerated parcels, which might contain temperature-sensitive goods like food, plants, chemical products, and cosmetics.
It includes all refrigerated delivery service stages from the acceptance (receipt) of a refrigerated parcel from its delivery service user all the way to its delivery at the designated destination, including intermediate transfer of the refrigerated parcels between refrigerated vehicles and via geographical routing. This standard would also include requirements for resources, operations, and communications to delivery service users. It is intended for application by refrigerated delivery service providers.
All interested stakeholders are invited to review the proposal, which includes a listing of relevant existing documents at the international, regional, and national levels, and stakeholder categories that may benefit from the proposal.
Please submit comments to Steve Cornish, ANSI senior director of international policy ([email protected]), by close of business on October 27, 2017. Based on the input received, the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) will then be asked to approve an ANSI position,with comments to submitted to ISO before its December 6, 2017 deadline for voting on this proposal.
