Workcred Associate Executive Director to Speak at Investing in America's Workforce Conference

Event is U.S. Federal Reserve initiative

Karen Elzey, associate executive director of Workcred, will be a speaker at a U.S. Federal Reserve initiative conference, titled "Investing in America's Workforce: Improving Outcomes for Workers and Employers," to be held at the University of Texas in Austin on October 4-6, 2017. Workcred is an affiliate of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The national conference will explore opportunities and strategies to support the development of effective labor markets, characterized by skilled workers matched to employer needsto ensure consistent economic growth. It will bring together businesses, government, non-profit, and philanthropic organizations to examine workforce development goals, as significant labor market challenges persist. The event will also provide analysis and stakeholder insights for the initiative's forthcoming book.

Elzeywho has expertise that spans over 20 years in multiple areas of workforce developmentwill be a speaker at the session "Investing in Post-Secondary Education: Institutional Needs and Opportunities," on October 4. She will join panelists representing business and higher education who will discuss ways in which post-secondary education can meet the needs of students and employers through innovative partnerships, course offerings, and investments.

Workcred, formed in 2014, is committed to strengthening workforce quality by improving the credentialing system, ensuring its ongoing relevance, and preparing employers, workers, educators, and governments to use it effectively. Led by executive director Roy Swift, Ph.D., the organization's vision is a labor market which relies on the relevance, quality, and value of workforce credentials for opportunities, growth, and development.

The event is an initiative of the U.S. Federal Reserve System, in collaboration with Rutgers University, the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, the Ray Marshall Center, the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, and the W.E.
