NIST Issues Conformity Assessment Draft Documents, ANSI Encourages Stakeholder Comments

The U.S. Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released conformity assessment draft documents that are available for comment. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages all relevant stakeholders to review and submit comments to NIST by the deadline on Monday, February 26, 2018.

The publications provide an overview of the topic of conformity assessment to better understand its impact on the marketplace, and provides useful information to all conformity assessment program users, developers, and operators.

• Draft SP2000-01: ABC's of Conformity Assessment - introduces conformity assessment concepts and information on how various conformity assessment activities are interlinked as well as the impact on the marketplace and serves as background for using available conformity assessment resources.
• Draft SP2000-02: Conformity Assessment Considerations for Federal Agencies - provides the basics on conformity assessment concepts and activities as well as provides considerations to those who use, rely on, develop, manage or operate conformity assessment programs within federal departments and agencies.
