UL and AAMI Collaborate for Book on Human Factors Engineering Methods
UL, an ANSI member and audited designator, and AAMI, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, have collaborated on a book that helps medical technology developers create high-quality human factors of engineering (HFE) work.
Writing Human Factors Plan and Reports provides information to help medical professionals create safer and more effective healthcare products through HFE methods. HFE methods align the design of devices and systems with the capacities and requirements of the user. They improve ease of use, system performance, and user satisfaction, and reduce operational errors.
"We're very proud of this book and grateful to [UL HFE general manager] Michael Wiklund and his team. At AAMI, we're committed to developing resources that support the medical device industry, and this guide does just that. By sharing their expertise in human factors engineering, Mr. Wiklund and his team are helping to make medical devices as safe and effective as possible. Everyone wins when that happens, most especially the patients," said Sean Loughlin, vice president of communications and marketing at AAMI.
