The U.S. Commerce Department's National Institute of Technology (NIST) will host a workshop on "Conformity Assessment Guidance and Best Practices: Canada, Mexico, and USA," on August 6 from 10 am to 4 pm, in conjunction with SES-The Society for Standards Professional's annual conference in Nashville. The American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) Mary Saunders, vice president of government relations and public policy, will join expert speakers at the NIST workshop. Attendees must pre-register by Monday, July 23, 2018.
The free event will be an opportunity for stakeholder participants to share their perspectives on how they approach conformity assessment in different sectors and the ways in which they overcome related challenges. Effective use of conformity assessment systems is critical in order for government to achieve public policy goals related to products, services, and technologies. The workshop will highlight insights from the governments of Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.which utilize a wide variety of conformity assessment approaches.
The NIST event immediately precedes the 67th annual SES Conference entitled, "Dynamic Diversity: Expanding the Future of Standardization." Keynote remarks at the conference will be provided by Kathie Morgan, president of ASTM International. ANSI senior vice president and COO Fran Schrotter will participate in a Leadership Roundtable on "Forging New Visions for Standardization in Dynamic Times," alongside other U.S. and international standards community leaders.
