USTMA Publishes Report on U.S. Scrap Tire Management
The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has issued a report on the scrap tire market in the U.S. for 2017.

The report indicates that over 81 percent of scrap tires are reused to make products including tire-derived fuel and rubber modified asphalt. This marks a stark contrast from figures reported in 1991, which showed that only 10percent of tires were reused and there were over one billion scrap tires in stock piles. Since then, the USTMA has made continuing efforts to repurpose scrap tires, and currently there are about 60-percent fewer tires in stockpiles.

The report also reveals that the use of tire-derived fuel continues to increase with the strong performance of the construction industry, and that a common re-use application in the ground rubber market is molded and extruded products like mats, garbage cans, flooring and landscaping, and playground mulch.

The blog includes headlines, videos, podcasts, news releases, and photos that assist the public in the event of severe weather emergencies that impact water supplies.
