People on the Move

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Monitoring Association (TMA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Celia T. Besore as executive director. She assumed this role on November 1, following the retirement of former executive director Jay Hauhn, and is the first woman to lead TMA.

Ms. Besore was previously TMA's vice president of membership and programs, and has also served as the association's vice president of marketing and communications. Prior, she was executive director of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Association Executives. She brings with her expertise in generating growth and building organizational value in a variety of industries, including healthcare, electronic security, packaging, and trade association management.

"Frankly, choosing Celia to lead TMA was an easy choice," said TMA president Ivan Spector. "Throughout the years that I have known her, she has been a tireless advocate for the association. Her energy, passion, and enthusiasm for the industry will spur TMA to grow to the next level in a rapidly changing landscape."

NSF International, an ANSI member and audited designator, has announced that Nancy Cole is its new director of analysis laboratories. In this role, Ms. Cole will oversee NSF's microbiology and chemistry laboratory operations in their Ann Arbor laboratory.

Ms. Cole has over 30 years of expertise working in environmental analysis laboratories, with supervisory, management, and directorial experience. Recently, she was the laboratory director for the Dayton, N.J. laboratory of SGS, Inc. (formerly Accutest Laboratories). She was with SGS for 28 years, holding positions in both laboratory management and corporate technical oversight.

"Nancy is committed to open communication and the highest level of quality and ethics," said Rob Herman, director of Ann Arbor laboratory operations at NSF International. "It's because of her dedication to growth and success in her past roles that we believe she'll make an excellent addition to the team."
