People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Building Performance Institute (BPI), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the promotion of Nancy Kaplan to director of workforce development. Ms. Kaplan's work with this department will focus on recruiting new performance and weatherization professionals, and developing opportunities and skills for those currently in the field.

Ms. Kaplan has been with BPI for 10 years, most recently as manager of workforce development. She was the lead advocate and spokesperson for BPI's Building Science Principles Reference Guide and certificate. She has also held the role of manager of major accounts, developing relationships with state and utility energy efficiency centers, BPI Test Centers, and other BPI stakeholders. Additionally, Ms. Kaplan served as BPI's manager of test center development for five years.

"Nancy brings a wealth of experience to the pressing needs for a trained and credentialed workforce. She has fostered the continuing development of BPI's network of Test Centers and works with programs in every state to solve the crisis the industry is facing in securing experienced and dependable workers," said BPI CEO Larry Zarker.

The Compressed Gas Association (CGA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has appointed Sarah Saunders as director of marketing and communications, a newly created role for the trade association.

Ms. Saunders comes to CGA with many years of experience as an independent marketing and communications consultant. She has worked with trade associations and nonprofits in a variety of industries spanning business, high tech, financial services, and environmental conservation. Ms. Saunders led science communications for one of the world's largest international marine research programs, and has 20 years of experience in private sector sales and marketing.

"We're excited to have Sarah join our team," said Richard Gottwald, CGA's president and CEO. "As a skilled marketing and communications veteran, Sarah brings the expertise and vision necessary to position CGA as a leading authority for safety information about the industrial, medical, and food gases industry - helping ensure that all those who come in contact with our members' products use them in a safe and responsible manner."
