The American Bankers Association (ABA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Kirsten Sutton is the new senior vice president and executive director of ABA’s Card Policy Council. In this position, which she will assume on October 5, Ms. Sutton will play a leadership role on card and payments system issues.
Prior to joining ABA, Ms. Sutton was with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where she was chief of staff for director Kathy Kraninger. She supported policy and strategic priorities, initiated and facilitated cross-agency coordination with other regulatory agencies, and represented Ms. Kraninger in interactions with congressional committees and lawmakers. Ms. Sutton has also served as chief of staff for CFPB's acting director Mick Mulvaney. Previously, Ms. Sutton was deputy staff director and staff director of the House Financial Services Committee under Chairman Jeb Hensarling.
“Kirsten’s deep understanding of consumer financial services policy and advocacy will be an asset as our industry continues to evolve to meet customers’ changing needs,” said Jess Sharp, ABA’s executive vice president of advocacy and innovation. “Her experience managing within complex, member-driven organizations and implementing strategic initiatives will serve her well in this important role.”

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced several staff additions for their newly opened Dubai office.
Francois Boueri has been named vice president of AHRI’s Dubai office. He is a strategic management expert with many years of experience in energy efficiency and HVACR. Mr. Boueri is a founding partner of Sustainable Environmental Engineering Solutions, and previously served as president and director of Daikin McQuay Middle East.
Khalil Issa is the AHRI Dubai office’s managing director. A well-known energy and construction professional in the Gulf Region, Mr. Issa is a founding partner and former managing director of ECOFAST Construction. He also previously served as managing director of ADC Energy Systems and chief executive officer of Energy Central Company.
The AHRI Dubai office will support the industry in addressing increasing regulatory requirements and demand for AHRI standards and certification programs in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and other Levant and North African countries.
