Changes to the ISO Directives: ANSI Refresher Online Course 2021

6/23/2021

Attention U.S. Committee Managers and U.S. TAG Administrators to ISO Committees – Complete Training by March 1, 2022

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages members to complete the 2021 ISO Directives Updates Course, now available online. The course is required to comply with the ANSI Executive Standards Council’s (ExSC) requirement for training on changes to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Directives, the basic procedures to follow in the development of International Standards and other publications. Training should be completed by March 1, 2022.

Course Overview and Attendee Requirements

Led by ANSI as the U.S. member body to ISO, the training course provides an overview of changes to the new version of the ISO/IEC Directives Part 1 and Consolidated ISO Supplement, which was released in May 2021. The new version reflects a number of changes to how ISO committees conduct their work.

The ANSI ExSC requires all U.S. persons serving as committee managers of ISO Technical Committees (TCs), Subcommittees (SCs) and Project Committees (PCs), as well as administrators of U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) to ISO committees to have appropriate training to serve in these respective roles. This requirement includes training on any changes to the ISO Directives that may be introduced each year. The course is also recommended for U.S. individuals serving as chairs and convenors of ISO committees and working groups, as well as chairs of U.S. TAGs. The course is also relevant for those who serve as members of U.S. TAGs or as delegates and experts to ISO committee and working group meetings.

All required participants must submit an email to ANSI's ISO team ([email protected]) upon finishing the course in order to comply with the ExSC requirement for training.

About the Executive Standards Council

The ANSI ExSC is responsible for coordination of ANSI's overall national and international standards activities, as well as the accreditation of U.S. TAGs to ISO. More information on the ExSC is available on ansi.org.
