People on the Move

2/18/2022

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

NSF International has announced that Pedro Sancha will be its next president and CEO, following Kevan Lawlor’s retirement.

Previously, Sancha was senior vice president and general manager of the Industrial Digital Group for Ecolab. There, he led the group’s digital transformation, with a focus on advanced Internet of Things, cloud-based analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, eCommerce, and remote asset monitoring. He has also led Ecolab’s Global Light Industries division and served as vice president of strategy and business development. Prior to joining Ecolab, Sancha was general manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for Shell. He also held roles of increasing responsibility for Shell in Asia.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, the leadership team, and NSF’s 3,000 team members, we would like to thank Kevan for his impact and leadership over his 36 years with the organization,” said NSF Board chairman Richard E. Rabbideau. “I am also excited to announce Pedro Sancha will join NSF as our next president and CEO. Pedro brings extensive global experience in the industrial and services industries, as well as the strategic and leadership skills needed to take the organization through its next chapter.”

Lawlor, current president and CEO of NSF, will retire in 2022 after leading the organization for 18 years. Lawlor served on ANSI’s Board of Directors for many years and served as chair of the ANSI Board from 2015-2017.

“Kevan has played a significant role by bringing international prestige to NSF and led us to become a global organization at a heightened level. His leadership in our industry, and as a former chairman of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has helped governments, regulators, industry partners, customers, and consumers by creating many health standards and independent evaluation services which are used throughout the world today,” said Rabbideau.

IAPMO has appointed John Watson as its new vice president of industry relations and business development.

Watson brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the plumbing industry focused on product development and compliance management. Previously, he was senior manager of compliance and sustainability for Elkay Manufacturing. Prior to that, he was with Sloan Valve, where he served as director of water efficiency and technical services. Watson has also held several positions at Chicago Faucet in engineering and operations.

Watson is active in professional volunteer associations, sitting on the ASME 112 Main Committee, the ASME/CSA Joint Harmonization Task Group (JHTG) for plumbing products, and several ASME working groups, as well as being a member at large of the KCMA A161/1 Standards Committee. He is a past board member of Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI), and has served on several Water Quality Association (WQA) committees.

“John is well known and respected in the industry and his manufacturing experience will serve IAPMO well in our efforts to further enhance and solidify our relationships with customers,” said Lee Mercer, IAPMO executive vice president of industry relations and business development.
