The Standardization Administration of China (SAC), China's member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has submitted a proposal for a new international standard focusing on requirements for guidelines for overseas warehouses, which would lead to the formation of a new ISO Project Committee (PC). As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by Friday, April 29.
The proposed international standard identifies key elements in providing overseas warehouse services in cross-border trade. It specifies the services offered by overseas warehouses, and highlights specific functions including the general principles, service provisions, service processes, service guarantee, service quality, evaluation, and improvements. This proposed standard applies to overseas warehouse service providers and other related parties and will guide overseas warehouse service providers on safe and compliant overseas warehouse services. The proposed standard does not apply to fields covered by the scope of ISO Technical Committee (TC) 315, Cold chain logistics.
All comments on this proposal should be sent to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy ([email protected]). Feedback received by the April 29 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.
