The United States National Committee (USNC) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is hosting a competition to sponsor young professionals for the 2022 IEC Young Professionals Workshop, to be held in conjunction with the 86th IEC General Meeting in San Francisco from October 31 to November 4, 2022. Applications are now being accepted.
The IEC’s in-depth, five-day workshop will bring together young professionals from around the world who are at the beginning of their careers in electrotechnical standardization and conformity assessment. Attendees will attend a workshop to learn more about the IEC, standardization strategies, and conformity assessment, as well as technical meetings and board meetings. Previous IEC General Meetings have demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm for young professionals, and the 2022 meeting will continue this momentum as attendees from around the world come together to meet mentors, network, and share information about their work in standards and conformity assessment.
The USNC will select up to four recipients to win the IEC Young Professionals Competition, covering their airfare and up to six nights of accommodation as they represent the U.S. in this event. Candidates should be post-university, in their early 20s to mid-30s, and work for industry, the government, academia, consumer organizations, or any entity within the U.S. voluntary standards and conformity assessment community that uses, benefits from, or contributes to the IEC’s work in electrotechnical standardization and/or conformity assessment.
“There are many outstanding individuals in the early years of their career who have demonstrated great promise in their work with standards and conformity assessment,” said Tony Zertuche, General Secretary of the USNC/IEC director. “We’re excited to send some of the most capable young leaders in the industry to represent the U.S. while they meet colleagues and mentors, and gain experience collaborating with IEC members around the world.”
Applicants must fill out an application form, write an essay, and submit recommendation letters. Nominations should be submitted to Ade Gladstein ([email protected]) no later than Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
