On May 16, Christine DeJong Bernat will join the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as associate director, standards facilitation, supporting the Institute’s standards coordination activities. Most recently, Christine served as director of global innovation and policy at the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), where she was responsible for supporting emerging technologies and innovation initiatives. With GAMA since January 2019, she worked with key global aviation stakeholders to enable new flight capabilities and technologies. This included supporting the GAMA Electric Propulsion Innovation Committee which is enabling the design and operation of hybrid and electric aircraft and increased automation.

Previously, Christine served as director of business development and manager of technical committee operations, at ASTM International. In her 13 years at ASTM, Christine supported organizational strategies for various industries including the aviation and aerospace, pharmaceutical, forensics, robotics, additive manufacturing, and energy sectors. Her responsibilities included monitoring industry trends, exploring and launching new standards activities and related programs, establishing partnerships, and providing guidance regarding how standards can solve common challenges to bringing new products to market and support workforce development.
