Register for World Standards Week 2022!

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has opened registration for World Standards Week 2022, to be held October 10-13 in Washington DC, with hybrid options available for all daytime events. A premier annual gathering, WSW brings together ANSI members and diverse private- and public-sector stakeholders from across the standards and conformity assessment communities for topical discussions and special events in the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. All agendas for events will be posted shortly.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 10

ANSI International Policy Advisory Group (IPAG) Meeting (Hybrid Event)

Location: Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and Zoom
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET

The ANSI International Policy Advisory Group (IPAG) is a policy-level group of the Institute responsible for ANSI positions and comments on international and regional policy issues related to standardization and conformity assessment. At the October 10 IPAG meeting, we expect to address issues related to cooperation among ISO, IEC and ITU, as well as ANSI relations and programs in relation to Europe, China, India, Africa and ANSI international development capacity building initiatives. Lunch will be available beginning at 12 pm. The event is open to IPAG members and other ANSI members upon request.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11

ANSI National Policy Advisory Group (NPAG) Meeting (Hybrid Event)

Location: Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and Zoom
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET

The NPAG meeting will feature updates on the ANSI Committee on Education, IPAG-NPAG Joint Task Force on Conformity Assessment, and recent federal and Congressional standards-related activities. The agenda will also feature a panel or panels on special standards-related topics of national interest, to be determined. Light breakfast will be available beginning at 9 am and lunch at 1 pm. The event is open to ANSI members.

Advances in Measuring the Impact of Voluntary Consensus Standards on Health and Safety (Hybrid Event)

Location: Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and Zoom
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET

ANSI, in partnership with UL Standards & Engagement and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission staff, will provide an update on their initiative to identify best practices for measuring the impact of voluntary consensus standards on human health and safety. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12

Evolving Standardization Landscape Summit, Hosted by the ANSI Joint Member Forum

Networking hour: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (in person)
Morning session: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (hybrid)
Afternoon session: 1:30 pm – 3:00 p.m. ET (hybrid)

Join the conversation as a broad cross section of stakeholders come together to share, discuss, and recommend concrete actions that must be taken by ANSI and members of the U.S. standardization community to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving standards landscape. Actively participate and learn about the opportunities, challenges, and strategic needs in four key areas: 1) actions to address the politicization of standards processes; 2) new techniques to coalesce diverse stakeholder groups to address standards-related challenges; 3) honing the messages and tools needed to communicate the importance of standards and participation in standards development; and 4) how to enhance effective participation and leadership within national and international standards organizations while building a standards literate workforce. Light breakfast will be available beginning at 9 am and lunch at 12–12:30 pm. Open to all; free.

ANSI Annual Business Meeting

ANSI Chair Phil Piqueira and ANSI President and CEO Joe Bhatia will review highlights of the past year, recapping accomplishments against strategic goals and describing how the Institute and its businesses are supporting the standards and conformity assessment community's efforts to build for the future. Open to all; free.

ANSI Leadership and Service Awards

ANSI's Leadership and Service Awards will be presented to the 2022 recipients at this banquet and ceremony in celebration of outstanding achievements in standardization; read the announcement of the 2022 winners. Open to all: ANSI members, $125; non-members, $160.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13

ANSI Intellectual Property Rights Policy Advisory Group (IPRPAG) Meeting (Hybrid Event)

Time: 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET

The ANSI Intellectual Property Rights Policy Advisory Group (IPRPAG) provides views and proposes policies regarding the incorporation of essential patents or other proprietary intellectual property (such as trademarks and copyright) in national, regional, or international standards. The October 13 IPRAG meeting is expected to cover issues related to the ANSI Patent Policy Implementation Guidelines, developments at ISO, ETSI and ITU, copyright-related updates and legislative issues pertaining to intellectual property and copyright within the U.S. Light breakfast will be available beginning at 9 am and lunch will be provided. Open to IPRPAG members only. 

U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day

Dinner: 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. ET

The U.S. Celebration of WSD is hosted by a committee of standardization community partners and has separate registration and sponsorship. The International Code Council (ICC) is the 2022 administrating organization of the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day, with the theme, "Sustaining the U.S. Standards Model and American Standards Leadership." Open to all, with tickets or sponsorship; visit the WSD webpage for details.
