People on the Move

7/21/2023

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has named Julie Davis as its vice president of people strategy, effective July 1. She succeeds Judy Gaus, who retired from the association at the end of June.

In her new leadership role, Davis will lead the association’s human resources functions and continue to oversee AEM’s workforce activities and initiatives.

Davis joined AEM in 2019 as AEM’s director of workforce development, before taking on expanded duties as senior director of workforce and industry initiatives. In that role, she worked to connect equipment manufacturing industry professionals to researched and field-tested best practices, and helped AEM members find workforce resources, partners, and support. In addition, she oversaw other tasks and responsibilities related to the association’s sustainability work.

“I’m very pleased to announce Julie’s well-deserved promotion to vice president, people strategy,” said AEM president Megan Tanel. “Her experience driving our workforce efforts, strategic mindset, and previous experience managing a non-profit will help our association continue to foster a culture of creativity and growth, as well as ensure AEM remains a fantastic place to work.”

“I’m excited to step into this new role and bring the researched recommendations I’ve been sharing with our members into practice inside AEM,” said Davis. “Judy left a strong HR team and legacy of practice, and I’m grateful to have had her mentorship over the last year as we prepared for this transition. I look forward to supporting the association, our employees, and our members in the years to come.”

UL Solutions has appointed Alberto Uggetti as its executive vice president and chief commercial officer. In his new role, Uggetti will continue the work he began in March as interim CCO: overseeing the company’s go-to-market strategy, and uniting the UL Solutions Marketing and Commercial Operations teams as the Commercial Excellence organization—an organization that supports the sales group in serving customers around the globe.

Uggetti joined UL Solutions in 2001 and has served as the vice president and general manager of the organization’s Environment and Sustainability group. In that role, he was responsible for global strategic planning, which included working with global retailers and their supply chains. Under his leadership, the division expanded to include new sustainability software solutions for enterprises. Uggetti also served as vice president and general manager for the HVAC, appliances, and lighting groups. He also served as a sales manager in the conformity assessment business for 10 years.

“Throughout Alberto’s career, he has deepened customer relationships and developed strategic business plans to drive growth,” said Jennifer Scanlon, president and CEO, UL Solutions. “His long tenure with UL Solutions and his record in building strong teams, delivering results, and making critical decisions with our customers in mind make him the right leader to advance the work of the Commercial Excellence organization and enhance the customer experience.”

“As CCO, I am committed to upholding the same rigorous dedication to delivering the superior service that our customers both expect from UL Solutions and also deserve while helping to fulfill our mission of working for a safer world,” said Uggetti. “I look forward to leading our Commercial Excellence organization as we transform pricing, evolve customer care, and advance commercial systems, processes, and governance with our customers in mind to further demonstrate the value of our brand and continuously earn customer trust and loyalty.”
