People on the Move

10/13/2023

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has announced the appointment of Ryan Jackson as its new vice president of federal affairs, beginning on October 16. He will succeed Ross Eisenberg, who will lead ACC’s Plastics Division.

Jackson, known to colleagues as RJ, is a veteran DC lobbyist. Prior to joining ACC, he was with the National Mining Association (NMA), leading their government and political affairs division. Prior to NMA, Jackson spent three years as chief of staff for the EPA, during which he successfully negotiated the U.S. Senate confirmation votes of two EPA administrators and nine assistant administrators. Jackson has also served as staff director for the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee under now-retired committee chairman Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK).

“You’d be hard pressed to find someone as knowledgeable, experienced, and who can point to a track record of supporting and delivering bipartisan policy solutions as Ryan Jackson,” said ACC president and CEO Chris Jahn. “In the Senate, RJ was instrumental in bringing bipartisan, chemical regulatory reform legislation over the finish line—at a time when virtually no one thought it could be done. His understanding of EPA’s regulatory capabilities and statutory mandates, while navigating the reality of the Agency’s bureaucratic challenges, make RJ well-equipped to help drive ACC’s “Chemistry Creates, America Competes” initiative toward a productive outcome for American manufacturers, workers, and their communities.”

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announced the hiring of Florida executive Paula Huband as director of events. In this role, Huband oversees all aspects of ACCA's national education and networking events.

Previously, Huband served as executive director of the Florida Refrigeration Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRACCA). She has also served as executive director for ACCA of Central Florida (ACCA/CF), and owns a printing, marketing, and promotional products company—IdeaGirl Solutions—building on three decades of experience in the printing industry. During her tenure, Huband grew ACCA/CF membership from 51 to 125, and reinvigorated their apprenticeship program. She took FRACCA from seven chapters to nine, launched a successful advocacy day in Tallahassee, and organized four FRACCA educational conferences.

“Having joined me at the very first site visit of our ACCA 2024 venue, participated in recent ACCA events, and served on our Speakers Subcommittee, I can think of no individual better equipped to hit the ground running as Director of Events,” said Sean Robertson, ACCA's vice president of membership and business operations. “I was particularly impressed that Paula had already lined up all 10 of FRACCA's sessions for ACCA 2024 a full year in advance, and I'm excited to see her deep familiarity with contractor needs translate into stronger peer-led content going forward.”
