Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience: Commerce Department Announces Virtual Supply Chain Summit

8/13/2024

Register for September 10 Event

To showcase new resources and government efforts that will help strengthen supply chain resilience, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC), together with the Council on Foreign Relations, will host a Supply Chain Summit on September 10. The virtual event will address the government’s role in assessing and addressing supply chain challenges, and the DoC will provide an overview of the first-of-its-kind Supply Chain Center (SCC).

Part of a strategic effort to be prepared for supply chain challenges, the new SCC, housed in the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) Industry and Analysis unit, will incorporate industry expertise and data analytics to develop supply chain risk assessment tools. The center will partner with industry to coordinate case studies on select critical supply chains, and collaborate with international partners to achieve mutual supply chain priorities.

The SCC seeks to be:

  • proactive in getting ahead of supply chain challenges;
  • strategic in setting priorities for policy action;
  • a force multiplier in improving the effectiveness of U.S. government investments; and
  • a partner to industry in building resilient supply chains and supporting U.S. businesses to lead the industries of the future.

The September 10 summit will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. Members of the public are invited to attend the summit virtually at no cost; registration closes on September 4.

For more information or to attend the summit, visit ITA’s website.
