ASTM International has announced that it has awarded its immediate past president, Katharine E. Morgan, with an inaugural award named in her honor, for her contributions as a role model for women in standardization leadership.
The Katharine E. Morgan Women in Leadership Award recognizes female leaders of ASTM committees who have made significant contributions to the development of standards.
Morgan, now retired, joined ASTM International in 1984, and played an integral role as supervisor of standards development work for several of the organization’s committees, including the consumer products committee (F15). She was named the vice president of ASTM’s technical committee operations in 2007 and executive vice president in 2015. She assumed the role as the organization’s president in 2017.
She received the award during her recent retirement ceremony, and is succeeded by Andy Kireta, who began his role as ASTM’s president in May 2024.
"Few people have had such a significant impact on ASTM International as much as Kathie Morgan," said Kireta. "She served and subsequently led the organization with distinction and has been a true role model for countless standards professionals throughout her entire career, myself included. It is an honor to present her with this award."
The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) recently announced two new leaders who will be pivotal to NWRA’s mission to promote the recycling and waste industry.

“We are thrilled to welcome Genevieve and Sara to the NWRA team,” said Michael E. Hoffman, president and CEO of NWRA. “Their unique skill sets and industry knowledge will help us drive forward the important work of the recycling and waste sector.
