Movers and Shakers

11/08/2024

Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has promoted Alison Lynn from vice president of communications to senior vice president of external affairs, effective immediately.

In her new role, Lynn will help oversee the external-facing outreach functions of the organization. She will continue to serve as the organization’s top communications advisor, strategist, and spokesperson, and will oversee AIA’s supply chain advocacy and events functions.

Lynn has served as AIA’s vice president of communications since 2019. Previously, Lynn was senior director for product communications for the American Chemistry Council (ACC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, where she served as a senior advisor, strategist, and spokesperson. She has over 25 years of experience, including on the House Armed Services Committee for then-chairman Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas).

“From day one, Alison has been a standout, taking AIA’s advocacy and outreach to the next level,” Eric Fanning, AIA president and CEO, said. “Her innovative, strategic thinking consistently benefits our members, industry, and government partners. She has more than earned this promotion, and I look forward to seeing how she continues to elevate our organization.”

The American Petroleum Institute (API), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has welcomed Kevin Slagle as its new senior vice president of communications.

Slagle will supervise all communications for API’s integrated advocacy efforts, including earned and paid media, digital communications, research, and thought leadership. His appointment will also include managing API’s multi-year “Lights on Energy” campaign to educate voters and policymakers on the critical role of U.S. oil and natural gas in meeting global demand for affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy.

Previously, Slagle was the vice president of strategy and communications for the Western States Petroleum Association (WSPA) and held leadership roles at global public relations firms Oglivy Public Relations and Edelman.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kevin to lead communications on behalf of an industry tackling the world’s most pressing energy challenges,” said Amanda Eversole, API’s executive vice president and chief advocacy officer. “Kevin is a seasoned leader and communicator with a proven track record at the center of some of the industry’s most consequential advocacy campaigns. His strategic approach and passion for American energy will be essential to advancing our members’ priorities in Washington.”

“I am excited to join API at a pivotal moment for America’s energy future,” said Slagle. “The U.S. oil and natural gas industry is critical for powering our economy, driving innovation and strengthening national security, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our efforts to carry that message to policymakers and consumers across the country.”
