Attention ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and ISO/IEC

Compliance Forms Due by January 31, 2025

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and its Procedures and Standards Administration (PSA) department wish to remind all ANSI-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrators to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities that a response to the recently distributed e-mail—which contained the 2025 Procedural Compliance Form/2024 TAG Annual Report Notice—must be returned no later than January 31, 2025, to the ANSI PSA department ([email protected]).

“ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and ISO/IEC activities serve an essential role in assuring strong representation of U.S. interests in these international activities. ANSI’s TAG annual report and compliance certification process is one of the checks-and-balances built into the system to promote its integrity,” explained Fran Schrotter, ANSI SVP and COO.

The 2025 ANSI-Accredited U.S.TAG to ISO annual compliance form e-mail is combined with the 2024 TAG Annual Report to facilitate the annual compliance notification process and the ISO and ISO/IEC TAG annual report submission. Failure to return a completed 2025 Compliance Form and a 2024 TAG Annual Report, along with the current TAG membership roster, by January 31, 2025, may jeopardize the TAG’s accreditation status and an organization's status as the related ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAG Administrator. If there is a reason for delay, please inform ANSI’s PSA department in writing before the deadline of January 31, 2025.

Please refer to sections 2.5.5 Maintenance of Accreditation and 2.5.5.2 Annual Reporting of the ANSI International Procedures (www.ansi.org/internationalprocedures). Additionally, please note that the 2025 edition of the ANSI International Procedures includes several revisions, described below.

Parts 1 and 2 must be submitted by the TAG Administrator of each separately accredited U.S. TAG to ISO. A list of the separately accredited U.S. TAGs is available at www.ansi.org/isotags. (Please do not submit a form for a TAG that is not separately accredited.)

  1. In response to ANSI’s e-mail, please complete Parts 1 and 2, with the current TAG membership roster, as specified in 2.5.5.2, to [email protected] by January 31, 2025.

  2. Please note a new requirement: All ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO are asked to provide the address/url of the website that provides public information about the work of the ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG that your organization administers. If a TAG-related website is not available, please provide your organization’s website. The website identified will be published as part of the publicly available ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG list accessible through ANSI’s website. Our goal is that this information will encourage and support participation by new stakeholders.

  3. The current version of the ANSI International Procedures is dated January 2025. These revisions are included in the 2025 edition (see here for a strike-through-underline version):
    • Section 1.6 U.S. Individuals Serving as ISO Chair: Requirements clarified for those cases in which a non-U.S. Chair is nominated.
    • Annex B5.1 and Annex C Code of Conduct: Revisions to clarify that a Code of Conduct is mandatory and applicable to all TAG members and observers.
  4. All TAG Administrators are expected to have already implemented Annex C Code of Conduct unless your organization has implemented a consistent alternative
    Code of Conduct (see
    ANSI International Procedures).

Compliance Requirements

All ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG Administrators to ISO are encouraged to read the 2025 edition of the ANSI International Procedures to ensure familiarity with ANSI's procedural requirements. Please note that Annex B of the ANSI International Procedures applies to all ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs and Annex C, the Model Code of Conduct for Participation on an ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAG applies to all TAGs accredited under Annex A (Model procedures) and is available for use by all others. All ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs are required to have already incorporated a Code of Conduct into day-to-day operations.

  • ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO that are accredited to use Annex A (model TAG procedures) must rely on and operate in compliance with the 2025 edition of the ANSI International Procedures, including Annexes A, B, and C contained therein. (No changes to Annex A have been made since the 2023 edition. The main text in section 1.6, Annex B, and Annex C have been updated .)
  • ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO that are accredited to use unique procedures, i.e., other than Annex A of the ANSI International Procedures, must review, and if necessary, revise their procedures, to ensure that they are compliant with the main text of the 2025 edition of the ANSI International Procedures and Annex B. In addition, all ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs are already required to implement Annex C or a consistent Code of Conduct.

Any revisions to a TAG’s procedures must be submitted by the TAG Administrator for review and reaccreditation by the ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC). Revised procedures are to be submitted to [email protected] in strike-through-underline format and accompanied by a summary of the changes.
