The Hydraulic Institute (HI), has launched a free “Pump Savings Calculator” that allows specifiers and end users to estimate cost and energy savings for pump systems.
The downloadable calculator factors the impacts of potential energy savings based on the HI Energy Rating, along with other variables including initial cost, installation, maintenance, and more. Users can find out cost savings for general scenarios as well as for site-specific scenarios.
“Pumps can account for 40 percent of energy usage in industrial fluid systems,” said Michael Michaud, executive director of HI. “While reliability comes first in pump system design, there is good incentive for stakeholders—including manufacturers, commercial builders, and municipalities—to improve the energy efficiency of pump systems and potentially generate significant cost savings. We designed the Pump Savings Calculator to help ease that journey.”
