NFPA Launches New Ecosystem Assessment Tool

8/13/2021

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the launch of a new tool that supports communities in identifying gaps in fire and life safety protections.

The Ecosystem Assessment Tool was developed for professionals and practitioners responsible for building, electrical, and life safety, including fire officials, building code enforcers, emergency managers, and policy makers. Users complete an assessment and receive a rating of their community as poor, fair, good, or excellent in its approach to safety. The tool also gives a detailed breakdown to identify gaps in the areas of government responsibility; development and use of current codes; referenced standards; investment in safety; skilled workforce; code compliance; preparedness and emergency response; and informed public.

See NFPA’s news item to learn more about the Ecosystem Assessment Tool.
