NALFA White Paper Explains Wear Resistance and AC Ratings Terms for Laminate Flooring

1/04/2023

The North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA) has published a new white paper that clarifies several terms used to describe the durability of laminate flooring.

Abrasion Class (AC) rating (AC1-AC6) is a classification from EN13329, a European standard, to describe the “wear resistance” of laminate flooring. NALFA-LF-01, a North American standard for laminate flooring, does not use the AC rating classification; however, the AC rating has become widely used in marketing materials for laminate flooring.

The white paper provides more information on this term, as well as clarification on other terms representing product durability, including wear resistance, impact resistance, and stain resistance.
