The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), in collaboration with global tech company SafetyCulture, has launched a series of refresher training courses to help frontline workers stay up-to-date on federal safety and health standards, with 27 sessions accessible on any mobile device.
Sessions—designed around standards set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)—cover topics that include fall protection, machine guarding, heat stress, hazard communication, and respiratory protection, assuring that workers stay current on safety and health protocols. The courses can be completed in 15 minutes.
“Essential safety and health courses are literally being put into the pockets of workers across the country,” said Mary Goranson, ASSP’s vice president of workforce development. “It’s a user-friendly experience that helps employers provide refresher training while enabling our Society to reach more workers with important safety information that can reduce injuries, illnesses, and fatalities on the job.”
ASSP reports that the new courses are particularly helpful to safety professionals and workers who have received their OSHA Department of Labor Card or last completed OSHA training more than one year ago. This group includes carpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders, masons, and other workers who require a higher level of workplace safety knowledge.
