Claire Fallon, CEO and executive director of the International Society of Automation (ISA), recently shared her insights on the future of manufacturing during an interview with WRAL news.
Reporter Dan Haggerty spoke with Fallon, along with North Carolina state professors and the president of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee, to discuss the reality of modern manufacturing, how automation and robots are changing the landscape, how workforce training programs have evolved, and whether the “the Golden Age” of manufacturing can return to the U.S.
“We absolutely can bring manufacturing back and make it stronger,” said Fallon. “It's evolved, though–it’s not going to be the manufacturing that we saw in the 50s and 60s. Last year alone, we trained over 14,000 people, and many of them were technicians, not just engineers and managers. There is a great demand for those technicians and people to have those credentials.”
