The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) recently announced that the Environmental Science, Policy and Research Institute (ESPRI), an organization focused on safeguarding public health through the improved management of building water systems, is the newest addition to the organization.

ESPRI will become an integral part of IAPMO’s Technical Services and Research team, supporting IAPMO’s research capabilities bridging science, policy, and standards to assure a safer built environment. The merge aligns with the launch of IAPMO’s Innovation and Research Fund, which addresses persistent challenges in areas such as water access and environmental safety, among others.

“ESPRI is a welcome addition to the IAPMO family,” said IAPMO CEO Dave Viola. “Both IAPMO and ESPRI have established a name for themselves in the realm of promoting public health and safety, and by working together collaboratively, we can make a positive impact—particularly in the realm of water quality in premise plumbing systems.”
