Hosted by ANSI and its affiliate Workcred, Building an Effective Workforce for the Future engaged nationally-renowned workforce and industry experts in conversation with attendees about the future world of work.

Highlights from the conference:

  • Morning Keynote: Patrick Gallagher, Ph.D., Chancellor, University of Pittsburgh; Former Acting Deputy Secretary and Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, U.S. Department of Commerce
  • Afternoon Keynote: Jeff Strohl, Ph.D., Director of Research, Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce
  • Interactive Panel Discussions:
    • The Future of Work featured forward-looking conversations about what companies and organizations can do to best prepare for challenges in the "future world of work." Experts examined the intersection of learning, education and training, and work, and discussed the impact of new technologies, changing skill demands, and what employers are doing to meet these new challenges.
    • New Credentials for the Future Workforce addressed new methods and types of credentials that are disrupting traditional models of learning – from skills-based hiring, to badging, and online education.
    • Upskilling, Reskilling, and Retraining Today’s Workforce focused on ways in which organizations are upskilling and reskilling their current workforce to meet the shifting demands of industry.
    • Future of the Standards Workforcepanelists and members of the standards community highlighted the innovative ways in which they are presently responding to a variety of workforce challenges.
