ANSI Shows Students How "Standards Are Everywhere" during Interactive 2018 USA Science & Engineering Festival

4/12/2018

ANSI collaborates with partner organizations to foster standards knowledge in STEM education efforts

ANSI, in collaboration with ten partnering organizations, also organized an expedition activity called the "U.S. Standardization System Passport" challenge, providing kids with a paper "passport" and an incentive to visit and collect stamps from each of the 11 organizations' festival booths. A highly successful outcome, more than 300 kids successfully visited all 11 exhibits and returned the filled passports to redeem a $10 Target gift card.

The public- and private-sector organizations that partnered with ANSI in the passport activity were:

- American Institute of Architects (AIA)

- AIA Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC)

- American Petroleum Institute (API)

- Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)

- Lockheed Martin

- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

- National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS)

- National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO)

- Peta2: The World's Largest Youth Animal Rights Organization

- U.S. Department of State

ANSI developed its festival theme through the support of its Committee on Education (CoE), and relied upon the collaborative help of staff from across the Institute to engage the thousands of students, teachers, and parents who came through the exhibit and got an introduction to the world of standards.
